Project Overview
The Qasr Al Muwaiji & Al Jahili Fort lighting project was successfully completed keeping in mind its historical significance as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Utilizing Unolumen’s AMALFI series and PORTO fittings, the project was aimed at enhancing the architectural aesthetics and visual appeal of the façade whilst ensuring energy efficiency and durability.
- Objective: To conduct a site survey and propose a suitable retrofit solution for the existing outdoor lighting.
- Scope: Providing a simulation and mock-up to visualise the proposed façade lighting solution.
- Deliverables: Incorporating lighting into the architectural elements without compromising the structural integrity.
Project Goals and Objectives
- Phase 1: The site survey was performed to calculate the total number of light fittings, wall to fiiting distance and fitting to fitting distance. Furthermore, the technical features of the existing lights like wattage, dimensions, etc, were taken into account.
- Phase 2: Our design team proposed a solution by means of lighting simulation and mock-ups.
- Phase 3: Once approved, the project execution and installation were performed in two stages. A state-of-the-art lighting solution was implemented.

Challenges and Solutions
- Structural Constraints: Custom mounting solutions were developed to facilitate seamless light integration and ease of maintenance.
- Distribution: As the structure and elevation is different in each areas different beam angles and custom solution to enhance the architecture uniformly.
- Weather Protection: The lighting fixtures were equipped with weatherproof casing to withstand harsh environmental conditions and special “Aqua-stop” feature is included to ensure durability.
Conclusion
The historical Qasr Al Muwaiji & Al Jahili Fort lighting project was successfully delivered, meeting all design and technical requirements. The installation of Unolumen’s outdoor fixtures from the AMALFI series and PORTO has transformed the facade into an illuminated landmark, enhancing its visual identity while ensuring energy efficiency and durability. The project stands as a testament to our retrofit lighting solutions that merges functionality with aesthetic excellence.
